Conroe, Texas May 14-15, 2010

Despite the horrible rains and stoppage for lighting this past weekends MOROC Race in Conroe, Texas was a huge success! With a total of 27 Vehicles/UTVs racing there was plenty of action for everyone.
There were numerous firsts for MOROC Racing at this event, one being the race was held on a motocross track. This track had many up and downs and twist and turns with a couple of places for the racers to go full throttle, this race was slightly slower than previous MOROC races because of the short straights
and the hindering rain but none of that stop the racers from showing a lot of action. Another first MOROC Racing had was the removal of the center banner. The banner usually splits the course into two lanes preventing the drivers from hitting each other, although hitting is still not allowed there still are instances where the drivers do make contact. One instance involved Barry Beadle Jr "Kid Krawler" not being able to stop at the finish line due to all the rain and running into the back of Shelby Gilstrap's Jeep and hanging his axle over her driver rear tire. With the Vehicle races there were two vehicles per race and with the UTVs it was four UTVs per race.
In the Unlimited Class one team rained supreme leading with about a 2:00 minute gap between 1st and second was Black Sheep Racing's Jay Albrecht and
Carl Yarbrough in their Ford Ranger modified truck. Second Place went to The Hulk Racing's Garret Stanley and Charly Langton (32:32) and than Shelby Gilstrap (39:21) in her pink Jeep from Hardcore Crawlers came in third.
Trophy Class brought a lot of action this weekend most coming from Mike "Fly" Sims and Daniel "Flipper" Price who raced side by side throughout this event. The pair made a lot of contact throughout the race and a lot of noise when Daniel flipped in a turn and landed on his wheels and kept going, never letting off the throttle! Both raced with almost exactly identical Jeeps with the same roll cages and vehicle specs this race came down to who was the best driver. Mike ended up winning the Trophy class by a mere :30 seconds with an overall time of 32:49 followed by Daniel with a time of 33:19. In third was Anthony Elmer and Kyle Short with a time of 37:00 flat.
The Super Mod classes first and second place were both snatched up by Pringle Fab Racing out of Spring, TX. Chip Maclaughlin took first with his "buddy" strapped to the back of his roll cage and bringing in a time of 31:41. Chip set a very impressive leading gap time between him and second place Brad Christensen who came in with a time of 37:13. Close third went to Ak Whatley and Mike Seward falling just :22 seconds from snatching 2nd with a time of 37:35.
The fast growing UTV class's popularity drew in 4 competitors this weekend and also wrote up the quickest overall time on the track. BJ Kohleppel from B&T Fab took first place and clocked an impressive time of 29:02! Second and third place came in with Darius and Tanya Melton with a time of 34:48 closely followed by Ben Garrison and Chip with a time of 35:05.
