Our next step was to replace the EVAP canister vent control valve, we were getting a EVAP leak error message. The EVAP Canister is located behind the driver rear tire. We removed the tire and shroud to access the top of the EVAP canister. If accessing the EVAP canister from this position the EVAP canister vent control valve will be on the back side of the unit. You till need to remove a hose and electrical connector from the vent control valve and than turn the vent control valve to unlock it from the canister and remove it. This may take some time to line the notches up perfectly to remove, a lot of people get really frustrated with this part - we were one of them, so we removed the whole EVAP canister to replace this. If you opt to remove the whole unit disconnect all other connected hose and harnesses. Once replaced reinstall the until and all harnesses and hoses. Replace shroud and tire.

We than re-installed the fuel tank by repositioning in its position and lifting the tank and placing the jack back underneath it. This is were emptying the tank almost completely paid off as we were able to lift it with ease. Re-installed the same way we took it down, back strap first, connected hoses and harnesses, than raised the tank back up and replaced the front strap. Tighten all your bolts and wala! We did not need to reset our codes when we started the Pathfinder back up they just weren't on anymore, if yours did not reset immediately you can take your truck to AutoZone and have your codes reset for FREE!

Time for me to change the notorious 05-06 Nissan Pathfinder Fuel Sending Unit (fuel gauge level) and Evap Canister....Have to drain the fuel tank first since the wife filled her up! Will post pics and steps along the way...
